When you’re living your life in endurance mode, you don’t expect anything good to happen. I’m not saying you don’t dream about some miracle that would change everything for the better. But you pretty much know it’s only a fantasy, and that you have no real control over anything.
You think people in poor places dream of fields of rice and wheat. But poorest people don't dream about the means to an end. They dream about the end itself: enough money to live and something extra to give to their children.
I guess one of the saddest things about growing bigger, and older, was that no one was large enough, or strong enough, to pick you up and hold you close and make you feel that safe again.
What is a moster? […] Is it a scary ghoul hiding behind the bedroom door? Is it some sort of beast with sharp fangs? No. Those thing don't exist. Monsters are men and women just like us, and they have the ability to hide their true face.
What possible evidence do you have that this universe is anything but cruel and heartless?
